From the Director of Teaching and Learning: MAP Tests

Dear Parents,

In the last few weeks, IST has been busy getting the infrastructure ready for the new MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing system. The results from this test will help classroom teachers personalise your child's learning, as it is one indication of where a student's skill development is on the continuum. Testing times are:

SS Campus:

Testing is in their HR classes from 7:40-9:15 am

-Monday, 3 September - Language Usage

-Tuesday, 4 September - Reading

-Thursday, 6 September - Mathematics

ES Campus:

Testing is in the morning in their grade level classroom

Grade 4 - periods 1, 2, 3 and Grade 3, 5PW & RJ periods 4, 5, 6

-Tuesday, 11 September - Language Usage

-Wednesday, 12 September - Reading

-Thursday, 13 September - Mathematics

Grade 5 AW & JB periods 4, 5, 6

-Monday, 17 September - Language Usage

-Tuesday, 18 September - Reading

-Wednesday, 19 September - Mathematics

As with each school day, be sure your child has slept well, had a nutritious breakfast, comes to school with a positive attitude and is ready to learn. Students are asked to bring a book or paper based HW or activity in the event they finish before the end of the session. For more information on resources for parents, download the Parent Toolkit.

Friday, 21 September is no school for students as teachers will be using this time to analyze the MAP data. A Parent Coffee will be organized in October to help parents understand their child's test results and give information about MAP. Please be on the lookout for an announcement via email, newsletter or the school calendar.

Kind regards,

Tina Fossgreen,
