From the Principal's Desk
One of the main strategic aims of the new strategic plan is "Engaged Community" and work on this starts within our immediate community. There are three upcoming opportunities for parents to engage in learning at IST that I want to make you aware of. Our plan is to actively organize learning experiences for you throughout the year. We hope to see you on campus this coming week at Open House and in the near future at other events.

Looking for Social Innovators to Mentor/Coach IST Students
IST is organizing team of high school students to participate in the Diamond Challenge through the University of Delaware. The Diamond Challenge is an international competition where student teams develop social innovations that can lead to income generation. This learning experience is for students who are interested in entrepreneurship, development, design and innovation. Students will be working throughout semester 1 to develop a innovative solution to a problem facing individuals here in Tanzania. We are looking for local social innovators/entrepreneurs who can come speak to the students and serve as mentors. The mentors will work with faculty members to support
From Diamond Challenge
"If the primary purpose is to solve a social problem and make a positive impact on people or the environment, then the social innovation competition is right for you.The social innovation competition focuses on the development of new, social innovation models that may include revenue-generating nonprofit organizations and mission-driven, for-profit ventures."
Feel free to share this with colleagues who may not be affiliated with IST. Volunteers can sign up here.
Update on Parking Lot and Security
A crew of workers spent Wednesday reorganizing the parking lot after the planters near the street were removed on Tuesday evening. Pickup and drop off has not changed and we anticipate that the process will continue to run smoothly. The security barriers (concrete balls) have been moved to protect the gate and individuals who are waiting for pickup. While you are waiting, please wait within the areas that are protected by the concrete balls. The guards at the gates will continue to only allow cars that have IST stickers. If you have any safety and/or security concerns, feel free to report to a security guard, administrator or teacher who is on duty. We will update the community if any additional changes are made.
