From the Elementary Library

There have been a number of fun and exciting events in the library lately. From students sharing their reading through book talks, a lucky draw for the chance to read Dog Man 6, Final Exhibition research, new artwork from Mr. James Harris and book character wall paintings from our Secondary School students, we have been busy!

On April 1-5, IST is fortunate to have a visiting author, Bruce Hale, join us for the week. Bruce will spend 4 days at the elementary school and one day at secondary. He will work with our students on their writing, sharing the process and tips for their own writing. Bruce also brings comic creation skills to classes as well. Students are getting excited and his books have been flying off the shelves as students read and enjoy Bruce's books. Starting this week, we will also have Bruce's books for sale in the ES library. (picture books and chapter books between 15,000-45,000 TZS) Some have arrived with more on the way soon. Please stop by to pick up a copy to get autographed during the visit. It's going to be an exciting week!

In other news, the KG students have successfully petitioned for their own pajama party. This will take place on April 12 at 1 pm. More info will be coming home to KG parents soon. To sign up as a reader, please follow this LINK.

We also have our 2nd annual Elementary Book Fair sponsored by Educraft Tanzania happening in April. Educraft is returning again this year with a number of great titles for our students. The Book Fair will take place on April 16-18. April 18 is Student Led Conference day, making it a great opportunity to share in your child's learning and to do some book shopping. We need volunteers to help set up on Monday the 15th, as well as to help work at the Book Fair on April 16-18. You can sign up HERE.

Please stop by the library to see us, say hi, and to see the new artwork if you have not done so already!

Happy reading!

Mr. L
