The Dubai Sporting Experience

Twenty two excited IST Grade 4 and 5 students made their way to Dubai for the first ever Swimming and Basketball exchange between IST, Greenfield's Community School, Uptown School, Dubai American Academy and American School of Dubai.

Arriving in the early hours of Wednesday morning we crawled into our beds at around 1 am.

Six hours later we were up and cruising to the top of Burj Khalifa at 10 meters per second, 456 meters above the ground. Following this we managed some quick shopping in the Dubai mall after lunch and then made our way to American School of Dubai for Basketball matches.

Our boys team tasted victory and defeat against the American School of Dubai and Dubai American Academy. The Grade 4 girls improved in each match and began clicking as a team towards the end of the day. The Grade 5 girls were in dominant form demonstrating their class and ability against strong opposition finishing the day unbeaten.

Thursday morning we made our way to Greenfield's Community School where the girls managed a clean sweep of victories in both the Grade 4 and 5 girls basketball. At the same time the boys were at Uptown facing some well drilled boys teams from Uptown and Greenfield's. The boys found the going tough, but did show glimpses of class when they held onto the ball.

Our final afternoon had us in the pool with a three school swim gala including; IST, Greenfield's Community School and Uptown School.

IST left the other schools in their wake taking out first place in the swim gala.

Much to our surprise there was a trophy on offer for the most points across all sports. Unfortunately our girls results at Greenfield's could not be counted as Uptown did not participate so we finished in a very credible second place over all.
