From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,

It's been a wonderful week in Elementary School with a number of quality events taking place. Last Friday evening we had the first ever IST Juggling Show (see photos below). A large number of students entertained the audience with incredible juggling skills, juggling both with the conventional balls, rings and clubs as well as the less conventional tennis rackets, baseball bats, rubber chickens, football boots and many other items! A big thank you to Megan Hardeman who has inspired and trained the children all year long at virtually every break time!

Swim gala

On Tuesday IST swimmers were joined by teams from DIA and Aga Khan for the final Swim Gala of the year with the inclusion of medals and trophy. It was an extremely well organised event thanks to Megan Hardeman, the PE team and many volunteer parents and teachers. IST were the overall winners and all team members swam really well.

During this year Grade 2 has been building a relationship with Mtendeni School which has a unit for deaf children. It started with a Unit of Inquiry visit back in October. Amongst other activities the grade has been raising money and collecting resources to donate to the school. On Monday of this week a group of children Grade 2 went to Mtendeni to donate the resources. See highlights below.

Kinder Sports Day

On Wednesday Kinder Grade had their end of year Sports Morning. All the games were designed and led by the Grade 5 children. The Grade 5's did a wonderful job working with and encouraging their younger peers.

Chicken Pox

This week there have been some new cases of Chicken Pox in ES. Please do not send your child back to school until the spots are crusted over and totally dry.

Seesaw End of School Year Information for Families

If your child is leaving IST, you can download your child's Seesaw journal to take with you. For more information and instructions on how to do this, please follow this link: Read more below from Sarah Hodgson about how to manage this important portfolio tool.

ASA Assembly

This morning we celebrated the end of ASAs with a dynamic and varied ASA assembly. Well done to all students who presented in so many different ways and a big thank you to Megan Hardeman for organizing the assembly and indeed the ASA Programme this school year.

Chess Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning Saturday June 2 more than 80 students have signed up for the Chess Tournament which takes place in the MPH. Good luck to all players and thanks to our Chess Coach and Peter Wilson for organizing the event.
