From the Director's Desk
We are currently planning our last day of school to celebrate this year with all students and parents. Our last day of school will be Wednesday, June 13th and will be a 1/2 day for all students. We will be having divisional celebrations on both campuses, and have tried to develop a schedule which will allow parents to participate in assemblies on both campuses. Last day of school schedule • Secondary School Assembly, 8 am - 9 am • Elementary School Assembly, 10 am - 10:45 am • Elementary Dismissal, 11 am • Secondary Dismissal, 11:30 am

Class of 2018
The International School of Tanganyika is proud of the accomplishments of the Class of 2018. On Saturday, May 19th, the Elementary MPH was filled with over 400 family and friends who came together to witness the graduation ceremony honouring the members of the Class of 2018.

News from the IST Board

Secondary Gym: Community Use
From now, the gym in the upstairs of the MPH on Secondary Campus will only be accessible during community hours by a key which can be collected from KK Security at the front gate. This is consistent with how the swimming pool key can also be collected and hopefully stops and unwanted damage to the facilities.

Tender: Canteen Service Provider
IST is currently accepting bids for the provision of the following services: Staff Canteen Provider Caterers and canteen managers should read the terms of reference and bidding instructions in advance (click link below). Submission of intent to bid is due on May 29th.

Secondary Campus: Upcoming Weekend Facilities Closures
Good afternoon, parents. With the end of the year coming, we have lots of communities renting out portions of our athletic facilities on the weekend. We wanted to inform you ahead of time so as to not create conflicts with regards to access and use of our facilities in the coming weeks. See below for details.

Dr. Jane Goodall Documentary
In collaboration with the Dar es Salaam official branch of Roots & Shoots we are offering Elementary students an exclusive chance to view 'Jane', the National Geographic documentary about Dr. Jane Goodall. The event will take place on Monday 4th June, starting at 3pm in the MPH (registration required).

Sports Days will be here soon: KG, 30th May, 7:30am to 8:30am • G3/4/5, 4th June, 7:20am to 11:40am • G1/2, 6th June, 7:20am to 11:40am.

MYP Arts Showcase
This week, Grades 6 through 9 held their Arts Showcase. Arts at IST is a hallmark and this event was a great chance for our Middle Years Programme students to demonstrate their skills. See below some of the highlights from Grades 6 and 7.

From the Athletics/Activities Coordinator
End of the Year Notes: ASA blackout week and the end of ASAs at Secondary for the School Year: For our High School students, we will be ending May 25th for the final exams coming next week. For our Middle School students, ASAs will continue on until Wednesday, June 6th. Junior NBA, however, will be put on hold for Ramadhan and the summer holiday. • ASA Musical Performances Date Change: Our final concert for the ASA musical groups has been pushed back. The new date will be June 7th from 6-8pm.

Note, the optional trips list for 2018-19 has been updated with the most current version dated May 25th.

Daily Bulletin for Secondary Students
At IST Secondary, we want students to develop the skills of time management, planning and organising. The school shares a Daily Bulletin with students to help them keep track of important upcoming events and deadlines. To help parents support their children as they develop these skills, we are also sharing a link to the same Daily Bulletin with parents through this article for quick reference.

Umoja: Short Course in Tanzania
The Lead Coordinators of the proposed United World Colleges (UWC) Short Course "Umoja: Coming Together to Understand Conflict" invited students to register for the course which will take place from June 19th to 28th at the International School Moshi (ISM) in Tanzania.
