Transitions: Welcome to New Teachers and School Leaders for 2018-19
When IST re-opens in August, we will welcome several new teachers and school leaders who will be joining us from around the world.

Calling all IST Alumni: You are Invited!
You are all warmly invited to a special event at IST Elementary just for alumni. This event is open to all former students, teachers and staff! IST Alumni Event at the Elementary Campus (Upanga) • Friday, 11th May • 7pm to 8:30pm • Attendance is free but advance RSVP is required via this online form: https://www.istafrica.com/11may • Sign up to join the new IST alumni exclusive portal: https://istafricaalumni.com/. Please share this with all alumni and former teachers whom you know. We are looking forward to a great, fun evening back at IST!

Public Holidays and School Facilities
There are two public holidays coming up: Thursday, April 26th and Tuesday, May 1st. We hope families enjoy the break. Note the school facilities (pools, libraries and campuses) are also closed to community use on those days.

Save the Date: Arts Out Loud, Saturday, May 12th, 11am to 4pm

Elementary News

 
From the Principal's Desk
This morning in assembly many Grade 5 students presented small elements of their Exhibition Inquiries. They were all related to the theme of Earth Day which is celebrated around the world this Sunday April 22nd. In addition, there is the IST Collection for Flood Victims, upcoming Grade 5 final exhibition, IST's Got Talent and information about Class Placements for 2018/19 School Year. Digital Citizenship Parent Workshop

Grade 5 Final Exhibition Biathlon
Three of our Grade 5 students for their final exhibition are organizing a Biathlon to raise money to sponsor a sports day to a local school. Please follow link below to read more details. Grade 4 and 5 students and adults of all ages are invited to sign up for the Biathlon! Please Come And Support Us By Competing, Volunteering, or Bringing Food to the Event!

This week At IST have decided to organise an emergency supply drive to help support those unfortunate people who are affected by the flooding of the on going rains in our community here in Dar. Blair provides information about various events happening this week including details about how might we build stronger partnerships with parents. Don't miss the full report in the below link.

Class of 2018 Leaving Ceremony
Today, the Secondary Campus said farewell and best wishes to the Class of 2018 as they break to prepare for their exams. We wish them well!

Round Square Adventure trip for Middle school students
During term 4 IST will be running another adventure trip for students in grade 6-8. If you would like your son/daughter to be involved then please have a read through parent information letter which is linked inside. You will need to make the payment and return the reply slip by Monday 30th April (further information is in the letter). Personal Project 2018
Our Grade 10 students have been working hard for several months on their personal project. Last night, the students put on a fabulous exhibition showcasing their projects. Amongst the many highlights included a bicycle powered by water as well as a art, poetry and architecture. In case you missed it, you can see some of the work here.

DARMUN 2018
On Saturday, April 14th, IST Secondary hosted about 200 students from IST and around Dar es Salaam for the annual DARMUN assembly. DARMUN was initiated by IST several years ago to provide access to the amazing Model United Nations program to students in Dar es Salaam. This is a student led initiative and the student organizers did a fantastic job creating an amazing learning experience for the participants. Check out the highlights below.

Daily Bulletin for Secondary Students
At IST Secondary, we want students to develop the skills of time management, planning and organising. The school shares a Daily Bulletin with students to help them keep track of important upcoming events and deadlines.
