Death Announcement
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mrs Bertysheba Machura, one of our beloved secretaries who has worked at IST since 1992. She passed away recently after an extended illness. Please follow link for more information.

From the Director's Desk
Please join us for Dr. Hardeman's Director Coffee on February 27th at 8 am in the Secondary Learning Commons. This is a great chance for parents from Secondary and Elementary school to get together and talk about information related to our school community. At the coffee next week, Dr. Hardeman will an update on 2018-19 faculty staffing, present an overview of this year's ISA results, and review the recent climate survey. Looking forward to seeing you there!

​Elementary Pool Closed for Community Use: February 23rd and 24th
Elementary Pool Closed for Community Use: February 23rd and 24th This weekend, we are happy to host the TALIS Swim Gala at the IST Elementary Pool. The pool will be closed on Friday (February 23rd) and Saturday (February 24th) to accommodate the event. The pool reopens for community use on Sunday, February 25th from 10am to 4pm.

From the Libraries
Author Tanya Crossman will be visiting IST in April. She is the author of Misunderstood: The Impact of Growing Up Overseas in the 21st Century. Parents are welcome to purchase a copy of her book in advance of her visit, stop by either library to pick up a copy.

 
 
 
 

Elementary News

 
From the Elementary Principal's Desk
This week, Tony talks about siku ya Furaha which took place this morning for the first three periods of the day. The children were introduced to a variety of Tanzanian cultural activities and were encouraged to speak as much Kiswahili as they could manage. He also talks about the mother tongue week and re arranged EPN/SPN Quiz Night news. He also highlights important events such as swim gala update and shares the calendar of events.

Mother Tongue Week
IST Celebrates Mother Tongue Week from Friday, February 23rd to March 2nd. The week will be full of events that will mark the celebration of the Mother Tongue week including Mother Tongue Stories during library times, as well as morning and lunch playtime. Follow link below to read more.

IST Volleyball Open Tryouts
All student are invited to join. Tryouts are Saturday, February 24th (7-9am) for boys and Monday, February 26th (4-6pm) for girls. Read below for details.

Save the Date: Grade 12 Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences
Grade 12 Parents - a reminder that the final Grade 12 Parent/Student/Teacher conferences are coming soon - Wednesday, March 14th from 2:00-4:00pm. Your Senior should attend with you, as this is an opportunity for the team (Teacher, Parent and Student) to discuss final steps in preparing for the end of year exams. Teachers can be found in their regular classes - a list of which has been provided below. We look forward to seeing you on March 14th. Follow link below for more information.
