Secondary News

From the Principal's Desk
Blair this week talks about how Middle School students not only produced and performed in their own scenes in last night's Showcase but also how the music students created and performed original pieces based on the scene. By "unpacking" the details we can truly understand what the students learned throughout the unit. Read more from Blair below.

ISSEA Swim Meet
ISSEA Swim Meet. January 31st to February 4th, IST will be hosting our first-ever ISSEA Swim Meet at the Elementary Campus. We will have schools from all over Southern and Eastern Africa, and we are looking for host families to open their homes to these athletes. At each ISSEA event, the host school provides an opportunity for students interact with the host community through the HomeStay program. Our athletes have been hosted all over the continent, and this is a great opportunity for our community to give back and host other schools. Please fill out the google survey inside to let us know how many students you can host!

Donations for Community Partner
Helena van Thiel is a Grade 11 student. She has started a campaign to collect donated items to share with children from a nearby village. She writes, "Dear Parents, To celebrate Christmas with a group of children from a nearby village this year, I would like to collect donations of footballs and volleyballs as well as board or card games in good condition. A box for donations will be set up inside the front gate at secondary campus from 7:30am to 3:45pm everyday from November 22 to December 8. Donations would be greatly appreciated! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me at helena-vanthiel@istafrica.com. Thank you."

Daily Bulletin for Secondary Students
At IST Secondary, we want students to develop the skills of time management, planning and organising. The school shares a Daily Bulletin with students to help them keep track of important upcoming events and deadlines. To help parents support their children as they develop these skills, we are also sharing a link to the same Daily Bulletin with parents through this article for quick reference.
