From the Director's Desk
Please join us for Dr. Hardeman's Director Coffee next week. This is a great chance for parents from Secondary and Elementary school to get together and talk about information related to our school community. At the coffee next week, Dr. Hardeman will an update on staffing plans for 2018-19, give an overview of International School Faculty Recruitment processes, look at IST's uniforms, and share next year's school calendar.

IST Open Days: Invitation to Prospective Families
Current IST parents are encouraged to share this invitation with others whom they know who would like to know more about the IST learning experience. Parents and guardians who are considering IST for their families can register to attend one or both Open Days by visiting

IST's Calendar for 2018-19
The Board approved the school calendar for 2018-19 at the November Board meeting. The calendar for the coming school year can be downloaded through the link above.

The International Award Programme at IST
Completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - Silver was set as a goal by nine students on the weekend of November 4th to 6th. This award pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements. Read the full story from IST student Devina Kakkad.

TGO: Computer Donation Drive
IST's Teen Girls Organization (TGO) is an award winning, student led initiative started more than four years ago by students at IST Secondary. The organization is running a computer donation drive to benefit a local girls school. Contact Selina or Mathilde to find out more, or bring your donation (in working order) to the IST Secondary IT Office!

Fund A Child brings to you the first annual IST FUN FAIR!
Saturday, November 18th, 10am to 4pm, IST Secondary. Come in with your families and friends to enjoy good food, shop around, play games, attend workshops and have a great time. Fund a Child is a student-run Take Action Tuesday group that raises funds to support and empower local youth. We have organized this event to raise funds for the Chipua Fund-a-Child organisation right here in our own community.


Elementary News

From the Principal's Desk
This week, Tony talks about a wonderful grade 1 assembly this morning which was all about making healthy choices. He also talks about the Directors Coffee, Grade Three Business Fairs, Football Tournament and school photos. He also provides a summary calendar of upcoming events.

School Photographer
The school photographer will be visiting IST Elementary next week and will be taking both individual and class photographs during class time. If you would like to have a family or siblings photograph taken, please come along on Tuesday 14th November between 2pm-4pm.


Secondary News

Photo Orders
Secondary students received photo order forms on Thursday - order forms and money should be returned to the main office by Tuesday, November 14th in order to be ready before the holidays. If you would prefer to order the retake photo that was taken this past week, please note this on the form. The 8th Edition of the East Africa Art Biennale
Dear Colleagues, Friends and Art Lovers,The East Africa Art Biennale (EASTAFAB) Association invites you to the 8th edition of the East Africa Art Biennale currently held at Alliance Francaise, Nafasi Art Space and Goethe Institut in Dar es Salaam. EASTAFAB is holding its biennial exhibition of the works of various artists from East Africa and beyond.The exhibition was officially opened on 2nd and 4th November at Alliance Francaise and Nafasi Art Space respectively, and will be up until 22nd November 2017.
