Shahzaib Jaffer: Essay Selected as Exemplar at Harvard University
IST Grade 12 student Shahzaib Jaffer took a summer course at Harvard University in July. Amongst his many accomplishments in the programme, he wrote an essage on Daoism versus Confucianism which was selected by his professors as an exemplar. Congratulations to Shahz for this incredible honour which also reflects well on his IST English Literature teacher, Ms. Jacqui Cussen, who has been teaching Shahz since Grade 11. The Gymnastics Academy Competition
On Sunday, October 29th, many IST students balanced, tumbled, and vaulted their way through the Gymnastics Academy competition. Gymnasts competed at three different levels - bronze, silver or gold.

Fund A Child brings to you the first annual IST FUN FAIR!
Saturday, November 18th, 10am to 4pm, IST Secondary. Come in with your families and friends to enjoy good food, shop around, play games, attend workshops and have a great time. Fund a Child is a student-run Take Action Tuesday group that raises funds to support and empower local youth. We have organized this event to raise funds for the Chipua Fund-a-Child organisation right here in our own community.

IST Community Choir
The IST Community Choir is starting up again! If you enjoy singing and would like to take part in a relaxed choir please come and join us. We are a group of IST parents and teachers who meet every Monday evening for the love of singing. We began our rehearsals on Monday the 30th October at 7.00pm and will be preparing for a small Christmas concert in early December. Please contact for more information.

From Elementary Swimming Department
The atmosphere at the pool on Tuesday was full of excitement. IST Hosted DIA and Aga Khan for the first swim squad meet of the year. There were quite a few swimmers competing for the first time in their lives. The experienced swimmers competed with fierce concentration and some of them achieved personal best times. Swimmers are looking forward to their next meet which will be held at IST on December 5th.

Google Apps for Parents Session is Cancelled
Due to a lack of demand the Google Apps for Parents workshop that was scheduled for Monday evening, November 6 has been cancelled.

Secondary students received photo order forms on Thursday - order forms and money should be returned to the main office by Tuesday, November 14th in order to be ready before the holidays. If you would prefer to order the retake photo that was taken this past week, please note this on the form. IB Diploma Update - Class of 2020 Course Selection
There will be a workshop style meeting on Thursday 16 November, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the upstairs secondary library (Masaki campus). Daily Bulletin for Secondary Students

Art Exhibition: Peace
You are invited to attend an exhibition of artwork by students from the Aga Khan Mzizima School and IST. The exhibition will be held on Saturday, November 4th from 9am to 12pm at Delhi Darbar in Upanga.

Football Tournament at Gymkhana club
Gymkhana Football Club is looking at a fund raising tournament on Saturday 11th of November. The money raised will go towards the cost ofJMK Sport Park sending an under 16 team to Arusha to participate in a tournament. IST is hoping to enter a team in the tournament and we are looking for players from the community. It is a veterans tournament so you need to be over 35!
