What sets IST apart from other schools?
Our Teachers, Our Students, Our Commitment
The IST faculty is comprised of qualified and dedicated teachers who are excellent at challenging our students to go beyond their dreams, supporting and inspiring them to do and be better.
Our student community is extremely diverse, with many different cultures and traditions. Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Our tradition of excellence, cultivated over 5 decades, has made IST the school of choice in Dar es Salaam.
We are committed to ensuring the best learning and teaching environment for our students, tailoring our curriculum to ensure each student gets an opportunity to explore, learn and develop their passions and interest.
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) (Early Childhood to Grade 5)
IST follows the PYP programme throughout the Elementary school. The PYP is designed and implemented to teach our students how to learn, how to interact respectfully with fellow children and adults and how to express themselves.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) (Grade 6 to 10)
The MYP programme at IST follows IB standards. It’s an effective curriculum that challenges our learners to understand how what they learn in class connects to the real world.
The Diploma Programme (DP) (Grade 11 and 12)
IST offers both, a regular high school diploma and an IB diploma. Both programmes are an excellent way to prepare for college, ensuring our learners are ready to move on wherever they go.
IST has invested a lot of resources to ensure our facilities meet the needs of our students and our programs. With modern, open learning spaces, students and teachers have the flexibility to work together to create environments to best suit each student or group of students.
We have two, newly upgraded libraries, one for each campus. Our libraries are fully equipped with academic, fiction and non-fiction books, ensuring our students have adequate materials for learning or for simply pacifying their love for reading. We also have a system in place that allows our learners to request books that aren’t in stock.
After school activities are a huge part of IST’s learning culture. We have a comprehensive range to ensure every student gets to pursue their passion. Activities range from athletic sports like football and volleyball to music performances and dungeon and dragons!
We ensure our students keep up with technology by facilitating them with necessary tools and the knowledge to utilise these tools responsibly.
We have computer labs in both campuses equipped with iMacs, a Design Technology lab in secondary campus equipped with all manner of design equipment and a 350mbps internet connection in both campuses.
All our programmes (PYP, MYP & DP) are student focused. We inspire, challenge and support each student to reach their goal. Whether they want to become app developers or civil engineers or lawyers, our teaching staff is there to ensure our learners are on track to fulfill their dreams.
We believe that every student deserves the best learning experience. To ensure all our students get the best out of their learning experiences, we have a range of student services to help those who need them.
We have the Counselling department, Learning support, English as an Additional Language (EAL) and more.
Amongst the strengths of IST are a “strong and professional teaching team, and excellent administration, organization and leadership.”
