What sets IST apart from other schools?
Our teachers. Our students. Our Diversity. Our approach. Our commitment.
IST is a place where students take on challenges, encourage each other and are supported by a stellar group of teachers, administrators and staff who are committed to creating and providing an outstanding learning environment for each student.
THE PYP AT IST (EARLY CHILDHOOD TO GRADE 5)
Our students like school. They are happy taking on new challenges, working with their teachers and friends, increasing their depth of knowledge and learning new skills.
THE MYP AT IST (GRADES 6 TO 10)
Do you remember being 13 years old? That in-between age when you weren't a child but also not grown up? Our teachers who teach the MYP believe this is one of the best ages and really enjoy helping students figure it all out.
THE DP AT IST (GRADES 11 AND 12)
IST's Diploma Programme offers the widest range of standard level and higher level courses to meet the varied interests of our students.
IST is over 50 years old, but the facilities don't look it. With modern, open learning spaces, students and teachers have the flexibility to work together to create environments to best suit each student or group of students.
Our libraries are exceptional. Two campuses means two libraries with each being fully equipped to support students in their research, referencing and learning. Of course, there are plenty of fantastic novels, too, to support developing their love of reading.
Service learning is a hallmark of IST.
In addition to service, our students take part in many other after school activities ranging from Kung Fu to robotics.
Students who are learning 21st century skills need to be fluent in the use of technology. That doesn't mean technology should be applied to all situations, but it does mean we take our role seriously in making sure our students know how and when to make the best use of ICT (information and communication technology).
Helping students achieve their learning goals is what we do. With a community as diverse as ours, students' learning goals are equally diverse. Whatever their goals are, whether it is creating an app, leading a project or gaining admission to their preferred university, our students achieve and inspire others along the way.
We believe that all students should have the chance to learn according to what works best for them. We provide students with a range of services which include learning support, English as an Additional Language (EAL) support, and counselling. Since IST is an inclusive school, services are aligned as much as possible with the student’s regular classroom environment.
Amongst the strengths of IST are a “strong and professional teaching team, and excellent administration, organization and leadership.”
