Substitute Teacher

I was born and brought up in Nairobi, Kenya and moved to Tanzania after my marriage. Before joining the educational field, I worked as a medical secretary in the United Kingdom and continued that career as a free-lancer for some hospitals in Dar-es-Salaam. I hold a BA Ed and a Diploma in Teacher Training (City and Guilds College, London, UK) and a Medical Secretaries’ Diploma (Essex, UK). My passion about education brought me to IST as a parent volunteer in the Elementary Library before moving to work as a full time teaching assistant in the lower grades in 1991. I am a Substitute Teacher at the Elementary Campus and for the past two years I worked as a full time class teacher doing long term cover. I enjoy the multicultural and multilingual atmosphere of the school and when the opportunity was available, I took on the task of the Elementary School’s Translation Coordinator through which I collated the PYP Student Learner Profiles into various languages represented at IST and promoted First Language learning.
