Susan Peacock
Elementary Principal
My attachment to international education came at an early age. I was born in Santiago, Chile, to American diplomatic parents. I continued to live outside of the United States for most of my childhood, attending schools very much like IST in Asia and Latin America. I can easily identify with my students because I, too, am a “Third Culture Kid. In addition I raised two Third Culture Kids of my own. My daughter and son graduated from international schools in Bangladesh and India, respectively.
This is the ninth international school I have worked in as an educator in four different regions of the world. I have worked at international schools in the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and East Asia. I have worked in the capacities of librarian, elementary classroom teacher, middle school teacher, curriculum coordinator, high school principal and elementary principal. I received my Doctorate in Education from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.I am very pleased to be able to add the experiences of living in Dar es Salaam and working at IST to my international repertoire!
