Ros Moore
Grade 5
I was born and raised in a small, rural town in the deep south of New Zealand which is famous for fresh stone fruit. I was always eager to see what was "beyond" my town and started my overseas travelling in London, where I taught in various schools. When my work permit ended I returned to New Zealand, via Africa on an overland trip.
I returned to New Zealand, gathered books and flew back to Malawi where I did some voluntary teaching in a rural school. A small library was also established and then I went back to New Zealand to further my career in senior teaching and Principalship. I enjoyed this experience immensely but still wanted to travel and be in Africa.
So, began my international teaching venture. I had a five month stint in the International School of Dhaka, Bangladesh which was my initiation and very interesting, especially living in this large city. I have now moved to Tanzania to work with the Grade 5 children. I have felt incredibly welcomed by the parent community and children and am very excited about my time teaching at IST and living in Tanzania.
