Mikey McKillip
Grade 2
For the past four years I have been teaching grade 5 and working as the lower school Technology Integration Coordinator in Shanghai, China. Before working in China, I was teaching Special Education classes, working with emotionally and behaviorally challenged children in Puyallup, Washington. I enjoyed briefly working in Ghana with the Harambee Centre and a select group of educators to develop curriculum to teach about the diverse continent of Africa. I attended Portland State University where I received a BA in Psychology and a M.Ed., Dual Endorsement Inclusion program, combining Special Education and General Education in the mainstream classroom. As a Peace Corps volunteer, I taught English courses to grade 6 and 7 students as well as teacher training and adult ESL courses in Eritrea, East Africa. I look forward to teaching students from diverse language and cultural backgrounds at IST.
