Swarn Lamba

Grade 4

I am originally from New Delhi in India, I moved to Africa many years ago with my husband who is a textile engineer. During this time I have taught in both national and international schools in various parts of Tanzania and Zambia.

I earned a Bachelor of Science from Delhi University and a Masters in Education from Jamia Milia Islamia University, Delhi. I am an ESL certified teacher from The College of New Jersey and have a Certificate of Leadership from the Principal's Training Center.

I have been at IST since 1990 and during this time I have taught Grade 4, 5 and 6. I have also been a science coordinator for the Elementary School, a grade coordinator for Grade 5 and headed various committees. In October 2005 I was the country coordinator responsible for hosting a very successful and well attended AISA conference in Dar es Salaam.

My philosophy is based on one of my favourite quotes-
“I never teach my pupils; I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.”- Albert Einstein

Despite having spent many years at IST each day is a new day; every smiling face a new challenge!!
