Fernandez, NNIEVES FERNANDEZ

Spanish

Spanish by nationality, I grew up in Madrid ( Spain) where I completed my secondary and university studies in History at Universidad Complutense. For more than twenty years now, I have lived outside of Spain in Belgium, Kenya and Dominican Republic.

I first moved to Brussels ( Belgium) in 1986, where my husband was appointed official at the European Commission. We stayed there four years during which, I obtained a Diploma in French at the Institut d’Enseignement Supérieur de l’Etat and also worked temporarily for the European Union and the Cabinet of the Education Attaché of the Spanish Embassy. During this period, just after the birth of my only daughter, Sara, in 1988, I started teaching Spanish language as a foreign language and continued in my subsequent postings.

As a parent myself, I believe I have sa pecial understanding of students in the multicultural environment of the international schools. My daughter has always been attending international schools like IST in Europe, Africa and Latin America. After graduation, she is now doing her university studies at Saint Louis University on its campus in Madrid.

Destiny, in the hands of my husband’s employer, has just brought me back to Africa and here I am, in Tanzania, looking forward to this new period full of optimism.
