Welcome to IST Elementary

From Early Childhood (age 3) to Grade 5 students follow the inquiry-based, concept-driven Primary Years Programme (PYP) from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). IST has been authorized since May 2000 to offer the PYP.

We have established key learning outcomes for each grade level but we also know that learning occurs across a continuum and at different rates for each student. Our goal is to create an environment where young students understand the interconnectedness (trans-disciplinary aspect) of big ideas while grasping the essential elements (concepts, knowledge, skills, attitudes, action) that will form the foundation for future learning.

In line with our school vision, we endorse an approach to educating the whole child as opposed to only the academic side. Our faculty and staff are a multi-national blend of professionals with many areas of expertise. We believe that educating children is a team approach which includes strong communication with parents and the school community.
