Advantages /Difficulties of life in Dar

• There are not many places to hang out with your friends.
• You can’t go to town, especially when you are new in Dar, because it is too big and there are too many roads.
• Too many bumpy roads.
• You can get lost easily.
• Bumpy roads – after it rains, there are so many dirt roads full of bumps and you can’t really go somewhere if you have a small car because you’re going to break the car. Even walking is not pleasant.
• Frequent power cuts – be sure to bring protection for your electrical appliances!
• Water cuts/shortages. The water from the taps is not fit to drink so people use filtered or bottled water. However, there are also times when there is no water for showers, washing, flushing…

Advantages:

• Nice beaches.
• Beautiful/delicious foods.
• Has many safari trips nearby.
• Has many restaurants.
• The climate is perfect but a tiny bit on the sunny side (good at the beaches).
• The local people are very nice and respectful to strangers and visitors
• Local tinga-tinga paintings and African carvings.
• Fresh fruits, vegetables and fish are everywhere.
• Some fun water parks in the city.
• Sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, diving, snorkeling all available right in the city.
