IST Students Shine During Sports Tournament

Last weekend students from Moshi, Arusha, Morogoro and Tanga all descended on IST Elementary School for a day of sport. All the children were resplendent in T-shirts kindly provided by our generous sponsor Goodyear. The competition was fierce but friendly and IST entered a squad of over 70 students in the swimming and football competitions.

In the pool IST swept all before them picking up first place in both the Grade 2/3 and Grade 4/5 sections. Many children won individual medals and there were notable performances from so many of our swimmers. Our football teams were keen to carry on where the swimmers left off and both boys and girls won their first few games. The girls team remained unbeaten for the whole tournament and went into their last game against Moshi needing just a draw. They finished off in style with a 2-0 victory to lift the trophy. Crunch time for our boys came against a strong Morogoro side who were also unbeaten. A titanic struggle ensued, with Morogoro coming out on top thanks to late goal. Congratulations to Morogoro on their well deserved first place. It was heat-breaking for the IST boys, but they still received medals for a very creditable second place finish.
