Students in Grade 6 to 10 are expected to wear the school uniform to school every day. The uniform is to be worn at all regularly scheduled class times, during homeroom registration (even if P.E. class occurs first period), and on school field trips unless otherwise directed by the supervising teacher. Please note that students who arrive at school without the correct uniform may be sent home to change. Hats or baseball caps may not be worn in classrooms. Students are expected to dress cleanly and smartly as befits a member of the school community and so as not to give offence to others.
The school uniform is described as follows:
Grades 6 – 10
Boys: white or light blue "polo" shirt with collar and IST logo on the left breast pocket, navy blue shorts or long trousers.
Girls: white or light blue "polo" shirt with collar and IST logo on the left breast pocket (long sleeves are permissible) and navy blue skirt (ankle or knee length), culottes, shorts, or trousers. Skirts and shorts should be of an acceptable length.
- Shoes should be practical and appropriate. ‘Flip flops’ or other beach shoes are not acceptable.
- In cold or wet weather, students may wear a plain white or plain navy blue sweater or jacket over their uniform shirts.
- No picture or writing should be apparent on any part of the school uniform. Cut-off shorts, jeans or patterned material is not consistent with the expectations of a school uniform. If T-shirts or vests are worn underneath the polo shirt they must be plain white and no logo or pattern should be visible.
P.E.: House T-shirts and navy blue shorts for both boys and girls. Gym shoes and socks. House T-shirts should be bought from the P.E. Faculty.
Grades 11 – 12
Students in Grades 11 and 12 are not required to wear uniform but are expected to dress smartly. Jeans are not permitted.
1. Dress code for girls
- Skirts should be of a conservative length
- Tops should not show the navel
- Tops should be cut so as not to show the bra and cleavage
- Shoes should be appropriate for school. (no flip flops or beach shoes)
2. Dress code for Boys
- All clothes and shoes should be clean and in good repair
- Sagging must be limited and no underwear must be visible
- Trousers should be of a sensible length and overall fit
- Tops must have sleeves (no vests or basket ball tops).
- Shoes should be appropriate for school. (no flip flops or beach shoes)
Please note that students in any Grade who are inappropriately dressed will be sent home.
