Academic Programme
Elementary:The Elementary School is a dynamic and progressive school that attracts outstanding teachers from around the globe. We are a long-established and accredited Primary Years Programme (PYP) school that endeavours to educate the ‘whole’ child through an inquiry-led, conceptually based, skills assessed educational programme. The Elementary School invests heavily in the professional development of its teachers and offers an outstanding education to its students. The atmosphere in our Elementary School is typified by the genuine enthusiasm and excitement of the students, and we believe that through this comfort and security, genuine learning takes place in our school.
Secondary:The IB-MYP is a five-year year course of study that provides a framework of academic challenge and life skills for Grades 6-10. It serves as an excellent preparation for the final two years of study at IST (Grades 11-12) where the students undertake the demanding IB Diploma Program.

Graduation Requirements
IST places a great amount of emphasis on community service and internationalism. Included in our graduation requirements is successful completion of the IB Diploma or Certificate Program, as well as a continued active involvement in designated community service activities. IB Diploma candidates must earn a minimum of 24 points in 6 subjects from any of 5 subject areas (Language A, Language B, Science, Humanities and Math), plus an IB elective or a second science or humanities course. Students must also take a course in Theory of Knowledge, write an Extended Essay (an original research paper of 4000 words), and participate actively in a minimum of 3 hours per week C.A.S. Program (Creativity, Action, Service).
Grading System
Students at IST are challenged by a rigorous academic curriculum, which culminates with the IB-MYP exams at the conclusion of Grade 10 and the IB Diploma exams at the conclusion of Grade 12. For those students who have attended IST for Grades 9-12, their final transcript will include both their IB-MYP Certificate results, as well as their IB Diploma exam results. Students at IST are not class ranked numerically, and Grade Point Averages (G.P.A.) are not calculated. The school year is divided into 3 terms and grades are awarded at the end of each term. IB-MYP and IB-DP grades follow the identical 7-point grading scale set by the IBO.
