IST Graduation 2009

On Saturday May 30th, the 70 members of this year's graduating class along with 450 family, friends and invited guests gathered at the Moevenpick Hotel for their graduation ceremony. This year’s class represented 15 different nationalities, with 18 of the class having joined IST in EC2 in 1995.


During the ceremony, a number of special awards were given out for the following:

Women’s Sports Award Katheryn Piper
Men’s Sports Award Kartik Kapoor
Community Service award   Maura van As
TOK Award   Megha Okhai
ECIS Award for international understanding Markus Lyngmo
BK Tanna Award Katheryn Piper



The Valedictorian for the class was Megha Okhai and the Salutatorian was Nishant Tharani. Both students gave superb speeches that brought together all the different threads that make up this year’s class. Tim Piper an IST parent of four years gave the Graduation Speech and other speakers included Justin Alexander, the Secondary School Principal and Stephen Maine the IB Diploma Coordinator.

It was a fantastic day and a fitting end to the graduates IST experience. We wish all of them the very best of luck as they head of to university and other adventures and look forward to hearing about their successes in the future.
