WELCOME FROM THE ELEMENTARY PARENTS

Welcome to IST Elementary where every facet of school life supports the child’s ability to individually explore his/her self. IST is all about forming the whole child and parents’ contributions are appreciated. To help you get involved, we have formed an open group of parents interested in participating in IST when and where we can. Our purpose is to be a forum for dialog, cooperation and support to IST as a learning community. We celebrate our diversity and welcome new families.

All parents are invited to attend our monthly meetings on the last Tuesday of the month and to join in our discussions and activities. Meetings are held in the Archive Room across the Courtyard from the Staff Lounge at 7:30 AM.

In partnership with IST teachers, staff and students we lend our leadership and assistance to many school projects such as Book Club, Uniform purchase and Triathlon. We organize fundraising activities in support of arts in the school and for purchase of needed supplies. We speak up about important issues and serve as parent representatives when necessary.

We have a running list of about 30 parents including a couple of staff who regularly attend meetings. We have developed 7 committees concerned with-

• Book Club/ Library
• Uniforms
• After School Activities
• Sports/ Triathlon
• Cultural Calendar
• Class Parents
• Welcome Committee and Parents Support

We distribute minutes of monthly meetings to these parents and any others who are interested.
