IST Under 9 Boys Lift DISL Trophy
DISL finals week got off to an exciting start with some fantastic results from our Under 9 league. The highlight was undoubtedly the performance of our Under 9 Boys Team 1 who were the first boys team to reach a DISL final in a long time. However, it was not just that they made the final, it was the fact that they won it in such an emphatic manner. Supporters were treated to a display of beautiful football where every single player played out of their skins to win the ’09 Final 5-0 against a strong Aga Khan team. Team 2 also put in a brilliant performance on finals day to beat Laureate 3-0 and finish in a well deserved 5th place. The Under 9 girls team have probably made the greatest progress of all our teams and they fought out as close match against Laureate, eventually losing 1-0 and finishing 4th in their league.
Later in the week was the turn of our Under 11 teams. Our girls team have had an impressive season, but they suffered the agony of a penalty shoot-out to eventually finish fourth in their league. There was more disappointment for the boys team, who after a season of improvement came up against a strong DIS team and were well beaten, but still earned a creditable 6th place finish. It has been a successful season because of all the hard work put in by all the players and coaches. Congratulations to all!
