Grade Three

The Grade Three classes begin the school year inquiring about the changes in families and school over the last 50 years. We investigate what it means to be a hero and learn about personal heroes that have shaped our history as citizens of the world. In our unit Seeing is Believing we look into the effects of advertising on our choices and how to create and analyze advertisements with a critical eye. We also learn about taking care of our bodies, not only physically but mentally as well- with an aim of becoming well-balanced people. We focus on hygiene, eating a well balanced diet and the importance of exercise. Towards the end of the year we focus more on earth science, learning about the states of matter and the water cycle and we learn all about how we as people affect animals and the environment around us and what we can do to help.
