Welcome to the Middle Years Programme at the International School of Tanganyika (IST).
WHAT IS THE MYP?
It is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 11 to 16. Thus, it is aimed at 5 year groups referred to as grades (grade 6, grade 7, grade 8, grade 9 and grade 10) at IST. The framework within which each subject department has developed its curriculum is integrated with the Fundamental Concepts and the Areas of Interaction.
As from August 2008, we will be reviewing our subject curricula against the interim objectives published by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO). We are also reviewing our current unit planners by using the approach of Backward Design. In this way, students, parents and teachers understand the big picture, which is to instil in our students the behaviours and attitudes of the Learner Profile as they explore the world in each subject area.
