INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE RESULTS (MAY 2004)

In the May 2004 examination session 60 IST students sat for examinations in 38 IB subjects. 49 of these entries were candidates for the full IB Diploma while the rest were taking IB Certificate courses.

IB Diploma candidates need to offer 6 subjects, at least 3 at Higher level and 3 at Standard level. The candidate's performance in each subject is graded on a scale of 1 (minimum) to 7 (maximum). Candidates may gain up to 3 bonus points for their performance in the Theory of Knowledge course and their Extended Essay.

In order to gain the Diploma a candidate needs to score at least 24 points. However, there are a number of failing conditions which can only be redeemed by scores in excess of 27 points. The Diploma will also be withheld where a student fails to satisfactorily complete the CAS element of the programme.

Of the 49 Diploma candidates, all were successful, giving us a 100% pass rate for the first time in ten years.

Bilingual diplomas were awarded as follows.

These are excellent results which maintain IST’s impressive record. I would like to thank all their teachers for the considerable time and effort beyond normal expectations that they put in to push and encourage these students.

The table below shows the scores for all diploma and certificate candidates. [The total % of grades does not always add up to 100% because some students were withdrawn from the exams].
