Secondary Curriculum: International Baccalaureate

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE RESULTS (MAY 2001)

In the May 2001 examination session 54 IST students sat for examinations in 35 IB subjects. 44 of these entries were candidates for the full IB Diploma while the rest were taking IB Certificate courses.

Of the 44 Diploma candidates, 41 were successful. This is a pass rate of 93.2%. The World pass rate is 80%.

5 candidates were awarded Bilingual Diplomas: 1 German/English, 1 Swahili/English, 2 Swedish/English, and 1 Dutch/English.

(The lowest score of those who failed the Diploma was 24 points)

There were 18 students who had outstanding Diploma scores.

Main Points of the May 2001 IB Exams

91% of all IB candidates scored a 4 or above in at least one subject.

All Diploma candidates achieved 24 points, 2 failed on technicalities and 1 for plagiarism.

41% of Diploma students achieved “Excellence” status (35 points and above) compared to 21% last year. This is the best performance by a group of IB students at IST in the past ten years.

Average points per Diploma = 33
