To give the students knowledge and personal skills which will enable them to interact successfully with others, equip them to cope with significant life changes, and encourage them to adopt healthy and responsible lifestyles.

• Transition to IB at IST:
1. Recognizing Stress
2. Stress Management
3. Getting Help
• Examination Preparation (PSAT)
1. Test Skills
2. Improving Memory Techniques
3. Organizational Skills
4. Time Management


Term 2 and 3: CAREER/COLLEGE EXPLORATION
• Interest Inventories
• Psychometric Assessments
• Identifying Career Options
• Identifying College Options

Term 4: LIFE CHALLENGES
• College Application Process:
1. Time Management Skills
2. Essay Skills
3. Test Taking (SAT/TOEFL)
4. Resume Development
5. Financial Needs Assessment

 

ASSESSMENT:

Health And Social education is an activity-based course in which students are expected to participate in class discussions and group activities such as oral presentations, role plays, pair work and group work. Assessment will be based on effort shown.

There will be no formal assessment for the HSE programme. The success of the program will be judged according to the values and dispositions demonstrated by the students and their success in dealing with the changes they encounter as they move into adult life.

Term 2: LIFE CHALLENGES –
• Completing University and College Applications:
1. Reference Letters
2. Essays/Personal Statements
3. Test Taking preparation (SAT/TOEFL)
4. Resume Updating

Term 3 and 4: LIFE CHANGES
• Transition From IST:
1. IST/Home Departure Issues
2. University Adjustment Issues
3. Final University Decision
4. Visa Application Process
