The IST Alumni Assocation is endeavouring to build a closer and more supportive relationship with IST. In the interests of supporting IST students a new initiative was launched. The IST Alumni Association set up a Financial Aid Fund to provide support to Tanzanian students who are on scholarship at the IST and furthermore, have received a scholarship abroad for university education.
IST Alumni Association carried out the interviews with the participation of IST Management, of the four Tanzanians, Wende Aman, Christine Karamagi, Nellin Njovu and Dushyant Pattni and elected to support all four students as they further their education abroad. They are remarkable individuals and exceptional students, having received full scholarships at Stanford and Trinity for the years 2008-2012.
The IST Alumni Association organized a fund raising drive which raised USD 11,000 covering the total cost of four return tickets to the United States. These were presented on Friday, 14th August in the presence of Honourable Professor Jumanne Abdallah Maghembe, Minister for Education and Vocational Training, key members of the Alumni Association, members of the IST School Board, including Board Chair, Mrs. Cathy Stanton and members of the IST School Management.
