The IST Sports Weekend 2005

On the weekend of 16-19 December IST played host to 5 schools for a weekend of sport and entertainment. On Friday evening, IST took on the International school of Moshi (ISM ) and a Dar Leopards Select team in two thrilling games of contact rugby. At the same time, the junior mixed volleyball team successfully beat ISM in 3 dramatic sets.

On Saturday morning, the tournament proper kicked off with an assembly led by the Grade 6 Steel band. This was followed by a morning of cricket, girl’s soccer and netball. In the afternoon, all the athletes gathered around the pool for the swim gala to witness some nail-biting races.
In the evening the athletes were treated to entertainment from our resident school band with Peter, Daniel and Luke on guitar, Tom on drums and Raphael on lead vocals. This was followed by Pizza and dance.

On Sunday, the boy’s soccer took centre stage with middle-school basketball and senior volleyball rounding off the morning. In the afternoon, 170 athletes and teachers went out and relaxed at Wet and Wild.

The tournament was a great success, giving an opportunity to students from all levels of sporting ability to participate. Thanks to all the staff involved and particularly IST’s unstoppable Sports Committee:Dane, Kimani, Naima, Zuhayr, Michelle, Marian, Hanne and Hafiz.
