GRADE 10 PERSONAL PROJECTS: THE OPENING OF THE DISPLAY

At 18h30 on Wednesday 31 January 2007, parents and students started wandering into the library to be awed and dazzled by the personal projects completed by this year’s grade 10 students.

Again, there is an amazing variety of approaches to the personal projects. There are creative projects such as the ‘African’ Kimono by Mari Sugimoto, the photo display of the ‘Voice of Poverty’ by Aasiyah Dhanani, Jessica Cochrane’s story book about the Barabaig tribe, Rik Noordholland de Jong’s proposed design for a new IST studio theatre and Nicole Da Motta’s script with teenage depression as its theme. We also have analytical works by Rahim Dawood who looked at ways to improve Oyster Bay Beach, Maura van As’ personal reflection on religion, Deborah Mujaya’s pamphlet and research on Female Genital Mutilation, Ally Ladha’s video in which he demonstrates specific ball control skills in soccer, Grazia Castagna’s exploration of her family history and Missy Moshi’s ‘Water exercise guide for children with disabilities’.

It is great to see that so many of our students have taken a truly PERSONAL approach to their projects and as such it has value to their learning and self-esteem.

Well done to the students (and their PARENTS).

I’d also like to thank the supervisors for the guidance they provided to the students throughout the process.

Enjoy the photos!
