Secondary School Production of Animal Farm

‘Animal Farm’, the 2006 Secondary School production came to a close Saturday night, and what a show it was! Although both Thursday and Friday performances were terrific, a sense of relaxed concentration, a demonstrative audience, and three months of hard work came together to produce a truly memorable evening. There were so many moments during the show when it was hard to see either actor or mask, but instead a complete creation. We saw subtle characterizations from everyone, and a sense of stage awareness that belied any theatrical inexperience.
There is a saying in the theatre that says ‘never work with kids or animals’. ‘Animal Farm’ was the exception to the rule for sure, and I’d like to thank all the performers once again for their commitment, enthusiasm, and patience, as well as a huge thank you for the special effort made by Jaci Stucker, Anja Maro, Jennifer Wakefield, and Beryl Davison, plus all those teachers who gave up their free time to help out. – Jerry Flynn (Drama)
